Thanks once again to the special events team for hosting this event. In the raw bench press competition Heath Logsdon moved up to the wheel chair/132 class, capturing the title and a new state record of 215. We are all so proud of how Heath has matured as a lifter and a person. Not only is he one of the greatest national wheel chair athletes in the country, he is also a great spiritual inspiration to the many lives he is touching as a part of the Omega Force Christian Strength Team. I would also like to thank his parents for being so supportive of all his efforts. And I'm sure that's not always easy! For the women we had Lisa Smelser who won at 40-44/165 with a new state record of 100. This was Lisa's first competition. It was also Lisa birthday! Then at open 181 there was Angelle Wray. This is one strong girl, taking the win with a new state record of 220! That's 220, raw! In the men's 18-19 age group it was Marc Barnett with a new pr and state record of 320 at 220. Best Lifter in the raw division was 148 junior champion Tintsey Coats. Tintsey finished with a new state record of 320 at a 148 bodyweight. Also in the junior division was 242 winner Jim Norwood who finished with a personal best 380. Chad Troutt, who had gotten his first ever 500 bench two weeks ago at the Kentucky State Fair, lifted raw here to finished with a new state record of 425 @ submaster 275. Bruce Snipes broke the state record at 40-44/242 with 365. Another first-timer, Jerry Smelser, won at 65-69/220 with 140. Dale Radford set the state record at 70-74/198 with 200! Then at open 181 it was Roderick Howard with 340 while Caleb Norwood finished with 385 @ 220. In the assisted division Darrell Huskey broke his own state record at wheel chair/220 with 275, just missing 300 on his final attempt. Denise Timbs also broke her existing state record at open women/148 with a great 225. Denise is the current NPC Ms. Indiana Bodybuilding Champion and the 2007 NPC Ms. Tennessee Bodybuilding Champion. She and her husband, Harley Timbs, are the only married couple to hold the very competitive Mr. & Ms. Tennessee Bodybuilding titles (Harley won the NPC Mr. Tennessee title in 2006). For the novice division it was Christopher Threet with 385 @ 275. In the 308 class Chris Stinson bested Jacob Carringer 570 to 460. Chris' 570 and a fourth with 585 were both new pr and Tennessee state records for the class. At 13-15 it was Corey Oakley at 165 with 160 while Jordan Scott won at 308 with 245. Both of these lifts were new state records for their respective classes. Tyler Scott won at 16-17/220 with 285 while guest lifter Blake Ellis won at 18-19/shw with a new state record of 315. Brandon Midkiff won at submaster 242 with 400. Moving to the master's division Jeff Weaver had a great day at 40-44/275, finishing with a new state record of 640 and capturing the best lifter award along the way. Jack Brown finally got his first official 500 bench as he won the 45-49/181 class! New state record as well! Blaine Woods won at 220 with 405 while Ronnie Holden took the 275 class with 325. Butch Adams set the state record at 60-64/308 with 425, looking as strong as ever! Another great master lifter was 65-69/242 winner Charles Green. Here Chuck got a personal best and Tennessee state record of 335. Dale Radford set his second state record of the day at 70-74/198 with his 290 personal best fourth attempt. Another milestone was reached as Brian Gardner hit his first 600 bench at police & fire/40-44/275. In the open division Dwyane Nealy failed to get in an opener after missing with his final attempt of 800! Chris Stinson got his second title of the day with his win at open 308. His 585 established a second state record there as well. Andrew Horton won the shw title over James "Tater" Cook 475 to 360. For the deadlift event Angelle Wray won her second title of the day at open women 181, pulling a strong 285 state record. Her last two attempts with 315 stalled halfway up. For the novice division we had two young lifters, Viney Mack and Larry Cheer. Grandsons of master state record holder Larry Greer, Viney finished with 80 while Larry pulled 75. Greg Langolf finished with a strong 625 state record at novice 220, this being his first competition! Then at 308 it was the battle between Chris Stinson and Jacob Carringer once again. Chris prevailed again with his 540 final pull to Jacob's 500. But a fourth with 525 was successful for Jacob for a new personal best for him. At 13-15/308 Jordan Scott got his second win with a new state record of 355. Brother Tyler won again at 16-17/220 with his state record pull of 400. Then at 18-19 shw Blake Ellis got still another state record of 445. At submaster Frank Phillips won at 242 with 600 while Chris Bryant did the same at shw with 500. Both were new state records. Dale Radford continued his winning ways and state record romp with his 285 pull at 70-74/198. In the open division William Foster returned to competition, after a few years off, taking the win at 198 with 605. Best lifter Joe Carter pulled a tough 720 second attempt at 275 for the win there, saving his best for the upcoming SLP Nationals. Our final lifter was shw winner Andrew Horton who finished with 500. Thanks once again to my son Joey and Adam Fancher who have done a fantastic job with the state fair meets. I guarantee you no other two loaders anywhere can keep up with these boys. Also thanks to Tracy Barnett for taking some great pictures and helping me at the table and to eight year old Julianna Foster for serving as our trophy girl. See you all again next year! Thanks to owner Justin Baker for hosting this event and to Chad Breeden for working so hard to promote this event. As a result of Chad's efforts, more than $7,500.00 was raised for this worthy charity, which provides food and clothing for the local needy. In the raw bench press event we had two new lady competitors, Leslee Stovall and Ami Crittenden. Lifting in the novice division, both set new state records for their respective classes, Leslee with 85 @ 181 and Ami with 100 @ 242. Amanda Kirby won at junior 132 with another new state record of 115. Robin Griffin set the mark at submaster 165 with 110 while state record-holder Elizabeth Rich broke the state record at open 181 with 125. Another newcomer, Eddie Homsombath, established the state record at junior 123 with a solid 175. In the assisted division Jared Kidd had a great day, hitting all new pr's at junior 198 to finish with 415! Best lifter Jason Watson won at submaster 220 with a great 550. 600 is just around the corner! Steve Nagle, competing for the first time in almost two years, had some problems with his shirt, and was unable to get in his opener of 470. Chad Breeden also had some problems with his shirt, due mostly to the thirty pounds of bodyweight he had lost. Chad was only able to get in his opener of 475, though it is apparent that his strength is still there. In the deadlift event Jared Kidd continued to have a great day by setting the state record at junior 198 with 515 and capturing the best lifter award. At submaster it was Steve Nagle with an easy 550 opener at 242, though he would fail at 600 twice. Chad Breeden won at 275 again, finishing here with 485. Then at 60-64/220 it was Kentucky's worst deadlifter, James Wigginton. (Actually, his form has improve greatly since last year, finishing this year with a new state record of 275.) The two best lifters, Jason Watson and Jared Kidd won $100.00 each for having the two best lifts by formula. Thanks to those who helped with the spotting and loading and to my little trophy girl, Kylie Crittenden. See you all again next year. Dr. Darrell Latch

Joe Carter came up from Tennessee again this year to capture the submaster and open 275 titles. Joe finished with a great personal best and national record 880 squat, followed by a 570 bench, which was also a new record for both divisions. Making just his opening deadlift of 650, Joe finished with a great 2100 total, which broke the submaster record as well. In the 40-44 division Eric Maroscher won at 220.
