Thanks to Joe and Anna Tabit for hosting this event once again. In the women's bench press competition Anna Tabit continues to get stronger with each new competition. Anna finished with a personal best 185 and set a new Illinois state record for the submaster 165 class. Our only assisted women's competitor, Marla McElroy, broke the state record at 40-44/123 with a great 165. Pam Sargent, lifting in her first meet, set the state record at 40-44/132 with 95. Laura Muraro, another first-timer, set the state record at 45-49/242 with 115. Our final women's bencher was Edith Deters, who won at open 242, setting the state record there with 145. Marla McElroy was awarded the best lifter trophy among the lady lifters. In the men's competition it was Cris Becker for the win at novice 220 with a solid 375. Chris Thomas won at 13-15/148 with 215 while Corey Ford took the 275 class with a new state record of 275. Zach Morgan broke the state record at 16-17/198 with 295 while Larry Kline won at submaster 242 with his opener of 325. At master 40-44 Barry Sullivan came down from Minnesota to win at 198 with 385. Joe Tabit took the 242's with 365 while Jake Toney won at 275 with 385. This was Jake's first competition. Dave Leslie, a great raw lifter from Iowa, broke the state record at 45-49/220 with 385. Tony Ashley won at 242 with 455, though just getting in his opener. John Meyerhofer came down from Wisconsin to break his own state record at 50-54/198, which he did with his 360 second attempt. Cozy Cozine, our best lifter, won at 50-54/275 with the highest bench of the day, 515. Richard Carlson won at 55-59/181, making just his opener of 300. In the open division Starkey Hedger won over Joe Blessman 365 to 360 in the raw division. Jerome White won the assisted 198 class with 330. For the deadlift event it was first-time competitor Molly Suhadolnik, who set the state record for the novice 165 class with 250. Chris Becker won again at novice 220 with 445. Our youngest competitor, Andrew Williams, won at 13-15/114 with 265. Jake Toney won his second title of the day at 40-44/275 with a personal best 515. Dave Leslie took the 45-49/220 class with 440. Mike Raya continues to pull consistent with a 565 @ 50-54/181. Dave Newman took the 198 class with 450. At 55-59/181 it was Richard Carlson with 405, once again getting just his opener in. Our final puller was also our best lifter, Starkey Hedger. Starkey won at open 198 with 630. Thanks to my son Joey Latch and the others who helped load and spot, to the ladies who took some great pictures and to Melissa Treat who served as our trophy girl. See you all again next year. Thanks to Dr. Jim Turner for once again hosting this annual competition. In the raw bench press event Will Craft set the national record at 13-15/220 with 285. At 16-17/165 it was Colton Shaw with 250 while Lewis Heater set the record at 220 with 305. For the 18-19/220 class it was Bryce Pacheco with another national record of 425. Patrick Simmons won at junior 132 with a national record of 245. Cory Carter won at junior 220 with 315. In the submaster division it was Mike Dalpaos with 375. For the master men's division Bret Pepi set the national record at 40-44/242 with 460 while Jeff Ribbons did the same at 45-49/275 with 255. Nick Dwinell, state record holder at assisted 50-54/220 set the national raw record with 380. At 65-69 both lifters set new national record, Robert Patterson at 220 with 245 and Jim Turner, who broke his own record with a great 350. Bill Barrow set the record at police & fire/40-44/shw with 415 while Shawn Suda did the same at police & fire open 181 with 280. Shawn also won at open 181. Zachary Lemons won at open 220 with 365. Josh Walker failed to get in a lift at 220. Best lifter Todd Robinson won at 275 with 500, matching the national record there. Turning to the deadlift event Jose Jacobo set the national record at 13-15/165 with 275. Lewis Heater set his second national record of the day at 16-17/220 with 425. Bryce Pacheco pulled the biggest deadlift of the day at 18-19/220 with 585. This also gave Bryce the best lifter award among the pullers. David Jacobo set the record at junior 198 with 450. Lifting as a guest lifter, Steven Trotman hit 500 at submaster 275. Robert Patterson broke his second national record at 65-69/220 with 355. Shawn Suda won both the police & fire and open 181 classes with 355. This was a new national record for the police & fire division. Zach Henley was our last puller, with a new pr and national record 575 @ open/242. In the assisted bench press division Susan Darrow broke the national record at 40-44/128 with a strong 190. Kevin Loudermilk broke the record at submaster 242 with a new personal record of 605. Steven Trotman tied the national record at submaster 275 with a pr 600. Brett Jordan got his record at 40-44/181 with 365. Sammy Smith also got a new pr and national record for his class, 40-44/198. This was Sammy's first offical 500 bench. Paul Radmilovich won at 45-49/198 with 300 while Maurice Lowry took the 55-59/220 class with 380. In the open division it was Cody Trammell at 148 with 315. Donnie Gragg broke the national record at 275 with 605. Our final lifter was Daniel Gonzales who won at shw with 435. Kevin Loudermilk was named the best lifter among the assisted benchers. In the raw bench press event our only female competitor was state record-holder Jennifer Rasmussen, who moved up to the master's class, setting the state record at 40-44/148 with a new personal best 160. For the novice men's division Carl Flath set the state record at 165 with 245. Jake Hagglund won at 181 with 195 while Brad Koepke took the 198 class with 225. At 13-15 it was eleven year old Rick Nelson breaking the state record at 97 with 75. Joe Mundelius, who won at 165 with a new state record of 225, was also awarded the best lifter among the high school lifters. Tyler Hiserman got his state record at 181 with 225 while Dan Brown set his at 242 with 135. In the 16-17 age group Steve Lubke set the mark at 114 with 95 while Jeff Myers did the same at 123 with 190. Logan Grap rounded out this age group with his win at 181 with 205. At 18-19 Christian Arellano won at 132 with 180. Mike Mundelius took the 165's with 245 while Zach Cervantes won at 198 with 370. Our final lifter at 18-19 was Jonathan Correa, who won at 220 with 350. All of the lifters at 18-19 set new Wisconsin state records for their respective classes. Andre Adams looked strong at junior 165, breaking the state record there with 335. Also at junior men was 181 winner Dan Zimmerman, who set the state record there with 270. Second place at 181 went to Jon Vorwald, who finished with 240. Robert Norman set the state record at submaster 220 with 425 while Tom Blunt did the same at 45-49/220 with 425 as well. Local favorite James "Mo" Mawhinney set the state mark at 50-54/275 with 250. This was Mo's first competition. Our oldest competitor, Richard Fischer, set the state record at 60-64/242 with 300. James Knowles also finished with 300, breaking he state record at police & fire/181. In the open division Mitchell Erickson won at 165 with 185 over Dale Straight, who finished with 180. Kip Ross won at 181 with 265 while Adam Staver took the 198 class with 355. Our final raw lifter was 242 winner Dan Strandt. Dan finished with 305. In the assisted division it was Gary Koch with 255. Our only other assisted lifter was also our best overall lifter of the day, Paul Harris. With 800 in his sights, Paul was only able to get in his opener of 730. Moving to the deadlift competition, newcomer Leticia Silva pulled a big 300 for a new state record at teenage women 18-19/275. Tonia Ward upped the record at submaster 123 to 225, setting a new pr in the process. Our best lifter was Jennifer Rasmussen, who finished with a new personal best 245 @ 40-44/148. For the novice men it was Dakota Gardipee with a new state record of 430 @ 148. Mitchell Erickson set the mark at 165 with 425 while Brad Koepke won at 198 with 440. At 13-15/97 Rick Nelson won his second title of the day, taking home his second state record as well. Rick finished with 185. Joe Mundelius did the same at 165 with 365 as did Tyler Hiserman at 181 with 445. Tyler was also awarded the best lifter trophy among the high school athletes. Dan Brown set the state record at 242, again, with 225. Steve Lubke got his second state record of the day at 16-17/114 with 215 while Jeff Myers did the same at 123 with 300. Logan Grap won at 181 with 385. At 18-19 it was Christian Arellano with a new state record of 330 @ 132. Kaleb Grap won at 181 with 425 while Zach Cervantes won at 198 with 485. Andre Adams won at junior 165 with his 450 second attempt. A final with 500 was called for hitching, though he did complete the lift. Todd Miller upped his own state record at submaster 148 to 480 while Rudy Stowers pulled a big 580 @ 275. Best lifter Kurt Weyrough finished with our biggest pull of the day with a new state record 675 @ 40-44/242. Brian Vorwald won at 45-49/220 with 500. Stuart Coogan, one of the most consistant puller ever, won at 50-54/220 with 520. James "Mo" Mawhinney won at 50-54/275 with 405. In the police & fire division it was Brett Beaman with 400 @ 165 while Brian Wadsworth took the title at 242 with 435. In the open division Brandon Horton won at 148 with 420. But Dakota Gardipee, who finished second at 148 with 415, came back with a successful fourth of 430 to set the state record there. At 165 Carl Flath took the win over Keith Koch 405 to 320. Another close one was at 198 where Robert Gripentrog won over Steve Barton 525 to 500. Joe Trent won at 242 with 600 while Dan Strandt took second with 475. Thanks to my son Joey for loading and spotting and serving as the platform manager and to Adam Howarth, Lee Streit and others who helped with the loading and spotting. A special thanks to Jennifer Rasmussen, Tonia and Mike Ward for all their help. And to my buddy Tara DeLara, for her help at the table and with the awards ceremony. At the awards ceremony Trudy Rauch, Rocky's widow, spoke briefly about Rocky and his love of the sport of powerlifting and bodybuilding. A national champion olympic and powerlifter, as well as a national champion bodybuilder, Rocky's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched over the years. Thanks to my son Joey Latch and Adam Fancher for doing a great job loading and spotting once again, keeping the meet running smoothly. In the raw bench press event we had a couple of first-time lifters at 13-15. Garrett Grantom set the national record for the 114 class with 175. Jared Dunn got his national record at 181 with 135. The teenagers at 16-17 did just as well, both hitting new national marks for their respective classes. Thomas Woods hit a great 300 @ 198 while Steve Willoughby finished with 225 @ 275. For the junior division it was Glade Turner with 365 @ 220 while Marc Barnett got a new personal best and new SLP national record at 242 with 370! Frank Bauer broke the national record at 45-49/148 with 250 on his second attempt before going to his shirt. Eddie Wells continues to improve as he returns to top form with 385 @ 50-54/242. In the open division Antonie Whitney won at 165 with a great double-bodyweight bench of 335. Best raw lifter Julian Wilks hit a strong 450 at 242. To round out the raw benchers Jarrod Willoughby took the open 275 class with 405. For the assisted benchers it was Sam Chapala's day to shine! Sam finished with a personal best and national record 320 @ special olympic/181! And it looked like he had another ten pounds in him! Jason Horn hit a big 500 @ novice 275 to break the national mark there. In the 40-44/165 class Chris Flowers actually locked out a personal best 400, but was called for "dipping" the bar. Chris settled with a strong 375. Big Anthony Pick broke the existing national record at 40-44/shw with his 520 opener, having missed 550 twice. Frank Bauer won at 45-49/148 with 335 while James Robinson hit 500 for the win at 45-49/275. John Dougherty seemed to get stronger as the day wore on, finishing at 50-54/198 with 360. Darris Sparks matched his all-time best of 425, taking the 55-59/181 class and setting the national mark there as well. Tom Chapala also did well, setting the national record at 65-69/275 with 370. Paul Newton broke his own national record at police & fire/40-44/308 by five pounds, moving it up to 505. Brandon Williamson lifted as a guest lifter at open 308, finishing with 455. Moving to the deadlift event Jared Dunn won his second title of the day at 13-15/181 with his second national record of the day, finishing with 305. Steve Willoughby broke the record at 16-17/275 again with 375. Frank Bauer set the national record at 45-49/148 with 405 while James Robinson pulled the highest lift of the meet with a great 700. Jim was also awarded the best lifter trophy among the open pullers. John Dougherty won at 50-54/198 with 540 while Gregg Kaske got a new personal best at 60-64/275 with 330. Taking the award for the top master lifter was Martin Montgomery. Martin finished with a strong 500 pull @ 65-69/165! Tom Hall moved up to the 70-74 age group where he set the record at 242 with a solid 485! Not bad for a seventy year old! Paul Newton got an easy 510 national record at p&f/40-44/308. In the open division Jarrod Willoughby won at 275 with 535 while Brandon Williamson broke the existing raw national record at 308 with 630.
